Tooth-colored composite fillings that repair decay in one visit and blend in well enough that you forget which tooth it was.
A filling replaces the part of a tooth that decay has destroyed. We use composite, a tooth-colored material bonded directly into place, rather than silver amalgam.
We numb the tooth, clear out the decay, and build the tooth back up in layers, curing each one. The bite is checked and adjusted before you leave, and you can eat right away.
Decay does not stop on its own. Filling it early keeps a small problem from becoming a root canal or a crown, which costs considerably more and takes longer.

Anyone with a cavity found at an exam, a chip, or an old filling that has cracked or come loose. If a filling has fallen out, call us rather than waiting for your next visit.
The injection is the worst part, and it is brief. After that you feel pressure and hear the instruments but should not feel pain. Laughing gas is available if you want it.
About thirty to sixty minutes for a single filling. If you need several in the same area, we will usually do them together while that side is already numb.
A very large cavity may need a crown instead, because a filling that big leaves too little tooth to hold it. We will tell you that before starting, not partway through.
Numbness wears off in a few hours. Avoid chewing on that side until it does, since it is easy to bite your cheek. Some cold sensitivity for a week or two is normal.
