Oral Sedation
A tablet taken before your visit that leaves you relaxed and drowsy but still able to respond and follow along.
A prescription sedative taken by mouth before your appointment. Deeper than laughing gas and lighter than general anesthesia, and you remain conscious throughout.
You take the tablet at a time we specify, someone brings you in, and the appointment proceeds while you are relaxed. Many people remember very little of it afterward.
It makes long or difficult treatment possible in one sitting for people whose anxiety would otherwise mean avoiding the dentist entirely for years.

People with significant dental anxiety, anyone who has put off treatment for years, and patients facing several procedures who would rather get through them at once.
Drowsy, detached, and untroubled by what is happening. You can respond to us, but the appointment tends not to register as a memory the way it otherwise would.
You take it roughly an hour beforehand and the effect lasts several hours, well past the appointment itself, which is why the rest of your day should be clear.
You must arrange a ride both ways. No driving, and we will go over your full medication list first, since interactions matter here more than with laughing gas.
Plan to do nothing for the remainder of the day. Grogginess can last into the evening, and you should not be responsible for anyone else's care until the next morning.
