Socket Bone Graft
A graft placed into the socket the same day a tooth comes out, which preserves the bone for later.
Also called socket preservation. Graft material is placed into the empty socket immediately after an extraction, before the bone has a chance to collapse inward.
Once the tooth is out, the socket is cleaned and filled with graft material, then covered so it stays put while it heals. It adds a short while to the extraction appointment.
A socket left empty loses a significant share of its width in the first year. Grafting at the time of extraction usually avoids a much larger graft later.

Anyone having a tooth out who might want an implant later, even if that is years away, and anyone having a front tooth removed where the gum shape matters.
You are already numb from the extraction, so it is a few extra minutes of the same appointment rather than a separate procedure.
Ten to twenty minutes added to the extraction. Healing takes about four months before the site is ready for an implant.
It costs more now to save more later. If you are certain you will never want an implant in that space, it may not be worth it. Dr. Ladhar will tell you which sites matter most.
Much like an extraction, with a few days of soreness and soft food. Do not rinse forcefully, use a straw, or smoke, since all three can dislodge the graft.
