Teeth Cleaning
A professional cleaning with hygienists who track your gum health over time rather than starting from scratch each visit.
A hygienist removes plaque and hardened tartar from above and just below the gumline, polishes the teeth, and measures your gums to see whether anything is changing.
Paula or Leah cleans the teeth, charts your gum measurements, and flags anything worth watching. Dr. Ladhar then examines you, and we can add saliva testing if it is useful.
Tartar cannot be brushed off once it hardens, and the bacteria under it drive gum disease. Regular cleanings are also how cavities get caught while they are still small.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about teeth cleaning.
Everyone, usually twice a year. If you have bleeding gums, a history of gum disease, or you have not been in for a few years, we may recommend coming more often at first.
Scraping sounds and some pressure, occasionally a sensitive spot near the gumline. If any part of it bothers you, say so and your hygienist will change how she works.
About an hour for a cleaning and exam. Your first visit runs longer because of x-rays and a full set of gum measurements.
If your gums have already lost attachment, a regular cleaning is not enough and you will need deep cleaning instead. We will explain the difference and what it costs.
None to speak of. Gums may be tender and bleed a little for a day, especially if it has been a while, and that settles quickly with normal brushing.
