Teeth Whitening

Dentist-supervised whitening, in office or at home in custom trays, strong enough to work without wrecking your enamel.

A peroxide gel that lifts stain out of the tooth structure itself. Done in the office for speed, or in custom trays at home for a more gradual change you control.

We check first that the discoloration will actually respond, protect your gums, and apply the gel. For take-home, we make trays from a scan so the gel stays on teeth.

Coffee, tea, red wine, and age all darken teeth from the inside, where brushing cannot reach. Whitening addresses the stain rather than polishing the surface.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about teeth whitening.

Anyone whose teeth have yellowed with age or staining. It works best on natural teeth, and least well on grey discoloration or teeth darkened by old trauma.

Zingers, meaning brief sharp sensitivity, are the common complaint and they pass. Telling us you have sensitive teeth beforehand lets us adjust the strength.

About an hour in the office. Take-home trays are typically worn thirty to sixty minutes a day for one to two weeks, depending on the shade you are starting from.

Whitening does not change crowns, veneers, or fillings, so if you have work on your front teeth the shades can end up mismatched. We will look at that first.

Sensitivity for a day or two. Avoid coffee, tea, and red wine for the first forty-eight hours while the enamel is most absorbent, or you undo what you paid for.
